Students win 1st

Renton Prep Awarded 1st Place in Education Design Challenge

Renton Prep students had the opportunity to submit proposals and participate in an educational learning design challenge at the WIPTTE 2015 Conference. This all expenses paid (transportation, hotel, food, and Argosy Cruise) competition was on April 28 through April 30 at the Microsoft Headquarters campus in Redmond, Washington. Teams of students spent an entire day competing to design an educational learning program. We want to congratulate Renton Prep’s team of Kayla, Tiffany, Jasmine, Naomi, and Myra, for their 1st place award, with the University Prep team receiving second place.

The Workshop on the Impact of Pen ad Touch Technology in Education (WIPTTE) has been part of making the pen and touch revolution happen by bringing together educators, students, researchers, developers, manufacturers, and decision makers to look at and experience current and coming state-of-the-art around pen and touch technologies. WIPTTE is unique in bringing such a diverse group together to interact and share research, experience tools, lessons learned, and ideas for future direction. Our students participated for three days and were able to attend numerous workshops using Microsoft’s new Pen and Touch Surface tablets.

Dr. Michelle Zimmerman presented her research, using Microsoft’s Surface and Microsoft products to explain how research supported the concept of using pen and touch on a tablet platform. The CEO of Microsoft and his leadership team invited Dr. Zimmerman to meet with them a week later to discuss applying Microsoft products to education in schools around the world.
